Repurposing Your Furniture

Bamboo Tray Table by Traditional Accents

Finding alternate uses for older or underused furniture has a number of benefits. Perhaps chief among them are the cost-savings, as refurnishing a home can be quite an expensive undertaking.

Sometimes, our furniture has a sentimental value to us and that makes it hard to part with.

A good way to resolve the issue is to repurpose the furniture to another room of the home or to give it a completely new function.

Here are a couple of ways you can transform some of the furniture in your home:

Tray Table

If you have a beautiful serving tray that you don’t use as often as you’d like, find an old stool, tripod or table base that is both sturdy and compliments the tray.

Don’t have one lying around? Local flea markets and thrift shops have plenty of options; usually for a steal. Affix the tray to the new base and you’ll have a one-of-a-kind piece that didn’t cost a fortune and has some emotional appeal.

Large Floor Pillows

This next one may come across strange, but give it some consideration. Over-sized square floor pillows work as great alternatives to headboards for smaller beds. The myriad of patterns and colors available ensures that your room’s decor will be enhanced by the addition.
