Comments about KidKraft Train Table with 2 Trundle - Honey - KidKraft:
This is a wonderful train table! We researched many different brands and styles and settled on this one for a variety of reasons. 1) In the honey stain, it is beautiful and actually looks tollerably like a piece of good furniture instead of just another gigantic toy - in sickening, overused primary colors - taking up tons of floor space in our heavily-trafficked famiy room! 2) It is more practical and functional than other tables on the market due to the [optional] trundles underneath. They provide a great deal of additional storage for extra train pieces as well as other toys, and they slide easily so the children can access them themselves. 3) Most importantly, it is perfect for train and/or car play, has a slightly raised lip around the edge to keep things from rolling off, and has rounded edges and corners for safety. Additionally, the end pieces are not solid wood all the way to the floor, but instead are arched. This allows excited and fast-moving little feet, toes and bodies to get in real close for active play without constantly being bamged or stubbed on the bottom of the table. This feature also allows my son (3) and daughter (1-1/2) to reach all the way in to the center of the table on their own without calling "Mama" for help constantly (!), something they can not always do with other similar-sized tables we have played around at stores and friends' houses. We are very pleased with this table. It is very sturdy, went together quickly and easily, serves double duty with the trundles for extra storage, and the honey stain matches up well with all our other medium oak furniture. [...] saved us around $50 over other sites with the same table. Another point to consider with this table. The table top is not fixed permanently in place. So we actually took out the table top that comes with it which has the road, water and land scenes on it. Instead, we cut a large piece of plywood to size, painted it green, and anchored our train set to it with counter-sunk screws. That way, the youngest children can't take the entire train track apart and/or ruin the configuration. Also, we can easily pop out the plywood with the train track anchored to it, and simply reinsert the table top that came with it at any time. This way, the children can play with their cars and trucks on the road, land, water scene for hours of "new" fun. And when they start to get bored with that, we simply pop back in the plywood with the train track and - voila! More "new" fun again! Additionally, my husband - a mechanical engineer who likes to do wood crafts on the side and who is very hard to please - has been extremely complimentary of this product. He was amazed at how easily it went together, how nice the design is and how well it compliments our regular wood furniture. He has even stated that he "won't mind THIS ONE sitting in the middle of the family room floor for the next three years!" For all these reasons, for children and parents alike, in my opinion, this is a perfect train table. KimberlyFormer Corporate-Professional-Turned-Stay-at-Home Mother of Two
