I looked through the endless pages of beds and liked this one because it really looked like a deep brown in the picture - when I got it I was surprised to find it was black and then I went back to the web page and I had totally missed the piece that said "new black" (whatever that is) anyway the chest of drawers and night stands seems pretty sturdy although they don't have adjustable screw feet which isn't good in an old house with uneven floors. The bed on the other hand left me concerned. Lets just say a bed should be sturdy for the more "energetic activities" that occur there, I think manufacturers forgot this when they design this bed. This bed came with 3, 5/8 slats that support the box spring, you get to pick where to place them and I did so but if you sit on the end of the bed you can get the mattress to lift off the frame (be sure to put it right under the end of the box spring. the sides use a slide in clamps be sure to really push down on them as you can think they're locked and then they slide apart. I put more slats underneath to support it (and I only weigh 170lbs). All in all it was a good value for the price just mad at myself for not picking a lighter color. Like all modern furniture you wont be handing this stuff down as a family heirloom but it'll be around for about 10 years.
