Wall Treatments – Part 3

Bold Wall Treatments

For many of us, budgets are tighter than ever these days and finding funds for nonessential projects can be tough.

However, the need to change the scenery often seems to be just as pressing of an issue. Especially if you’ve been looking at the same design for a number of years.

Regardless of how well decorated a room may be, if it’s been the same way for a significant amount of time, it can begin to feel like a prison cell of sorts.

A quick, and inexpensive, way to give your dwelling a jolt of life is with color.

Go bold with a striking and unexpected color on the walls. A few dollars and a day of your weekend is all it takes to transform your space from blah to lively.

A treatment like the framed-panels pictured here is another inexpensive way to add depth and character to a room for just a few bucks.

To recreate the framed-panels effect, measure and mark where the pieces of molding would be placed. Then, simply go down to the nearest hardware/home-improvement store and grab some pieces of crown molding (pick a style that suits your home). Mark the angels where the pieces would join and cut accordingly. All that’s left is to nail them to the wall along the marks and paint.

Some variations of this effect could be achieved by painting the molding pieces an alternate color that accentuates the wall color and other decor or by filling the “frames” with a textured wallpaper for an added sense of depth.
