“Our interiors are one of the most important gifts we can give ourselves.”

-Richard Hallberg, Interior Designer

Considering the amount of time we spend in our homes, every penny spent improving the ambiance is a sound investment.

While aesthetics can be subjective, there are a number of fundamentals that can be employed in order to boost your home’s comfort level; regardless of its style.

Some of these tips include:

  • Have at least one cozy chair that practically wraps you up when you rest on it. While all seating in the home should be as comfortable as possible, there should be at least one “special chair” to greet you after long days.
  • Proper lighting is essential to managing the environment. While ceiling lights are sufficient for main lighting, lamps on dimmers are best for warm lighting.
  • Having tons of pillows piled on couches and beds not only makes lounging around more comfortable, but it actually makes a space appear to be more comfortable and inviting.
  • Hotels have figured out that rich, luxurious bedding can make the difference between simply sleeping and getting a good night’s rest. Follow suit and outfit your bed with the most plush bedding you can get your hands on.
